The answer to this is to plant your own garden using heirloom seeds. Start this year because it takes a couple of years to get really good at it. The most efficient and easiest gardening method I know is square foot gardening. There are a couple of books in the HFC Store in the sidebar. The HFC store is linked to Amazon. The prices are the same.

You should always use heirloom seeds because you can harvest the seeds and grow plants with those seeds in subsequent years. If you buy hybrid seeds, you cannot harvest the seeds as they will not grow.  You want to avoid hybrid seeds anyway as many are genetically modified by Monsanto.  Monsanto does not want you to harvest your own seeds.  They want you to buy seeds every year and therefore be dependent on them.  By the way, Monsanto owns a significant portion of the seed companies.  If you buy heirloom or heirloom-organic, you will be supporting family gardens (hopefully your own) and small farms.  There are many good seed companies. I've bought my seeds from Heirloom-Organics.com online and Botanical Interests from the local nursery.  I will list the other seed companies on my blog in the next couple of days.

Happy Gardening!
