Agave Nectar like High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is not a health food. HFCS is the most popular sweetener to manufacturers due to corn subsidies. It is in almost every processed food on the market and that is a problem. Not only does HFCS contribute to diabetes, heart disease, obesity, cancer, and very likely has GMOs. 70% of corn has GMOs, therefore, eating anything with HFCS is not worth risking your health on so many levels. Agave Nectar is mostly comprised of HFCS. It is marketed as a "health food" because of it's low glycemic index. You, the consumer, have been fooled once again. You are paying a premium price for junk food. If you are going to pay a premium price, buy real maple syrup, raw honey, and stevia and use all in moderation as too much of any sweetener can cause problems with blood sugar and put weight on. What's the difference? Natural sweeteners have nutrients, are less addicting, are much more satisfying than sugar, and do not have GMOs. You will use less because these sweeteners are more expensive and are not found in many processed products unless you shop at Whole Foods.
