I was recently interviewed by Dave Asprey when I visited his Bulletproof lab on Vancouver Island.1 In it, I review the real dangers of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) emitted by electronic devices. I will also do a more comprehensive lecture on this topic at Asprey's Bulletproof Conference October 13 through 15 at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California.

Avoiding excessive EMF exposure is an important component of optimizing mitochondrial health. In fact, this is going to be the topic of my next book. Like my latest best-seller, "Fat for Fuel," which details my metabolic mitochondrial therapy program, I want the book on EMFs to be peer-reviewed by the leading scientists and researchers in the world who understand the truth and are free of industry corruption.

The key is to translate the science into clear and understandable language, and offer practical recommendations on how to remediate the problem. After all, we are swimming in an invisible ocean of EMFs just about everywhere you go these days. It's near-impossible to avoid microwave exposure completely, but there are ways to reduced it, for sure.

Your Cellphone Is a Major Source of EMF Exposure

As noted by Asprey, his studio is hard-wired, and that's one simple way to reduce exposure from Wi-Fi. You can also shut your Wi-Fi down whenever you're not using it, and certainly at night when you're sleeping. When using your cellphone, use the speaker phone and hold the phone 3 feet away from you, using a selfie stick. I've measured the radiation and you decrease your exposure by about 90 percent this way.

When not in use, make sure your cellphone is in airplane mode and/or keep it in a Faraday bag. These are just a few quick examples of how you can protect your health while still living in modern society. I have carefully measured the radiation coming from my phone and even when it is on and not calling someone the radiation doesn't come down to safe ranges until I am 25 feet away, which is why I keep my phone in airplane mode most of the time and only use it for emergencies or when I am traveling.

It took me awhile to figure this out. I got rid of all the wireless devices and Wi-Fi in my house, yet the EMFs were still high. Then I finally realized that it was my phone (while on) that caused it. My levels dropped below 0.01 volts/meter once I put it in airplane mode. This is a key point. For nearly everyone reading this, the majority of the radiation you're exposed to is not coming from the outside into your home; it's coming from the items in your home.

Nonthermal Damage

Most of the radiation we're exposed to today is microwave radiation, which does include radiation from your microwave oven. If you still have one, I recommend replacing it with a steam convection oven, which will heat your food just as quickly but far more safely. When you turn that microwave oven on, it will expose you to very dangerous microwave radiation at levels that are far in excess of your cellphone. We're not talking about thermal (heat) damage here. We're talking about nonthermal damage.

I recently interviewed Martin Pall, Ph.D., who has identified and published several papers describing the molecular mechanisms of how EMFs from cellphones and wireless technologies damage plants, animals and humans.2,3,4,5 Many studies have shown that when you're exposed to EMFs, intracellular calcium increases. Pall also discovered a number of studies showing that you can block or greatly reduce the effects of EMFs using calcium channel blockers — medication commonly prescribed to patients with heart disease.
This turns out to be a crucial point, because it's the excess calcium in the cell and the increased calcium signaling that are responsible for a vast majority of the biological effects of EMFs.

Pall has discovered no less than 26 papers showing that EMFs work by activating voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs), which are located in the outer membrane of your cells. Once activated, they allow a tremendous influx of calcium into the cell — about 1 million calcium ions per second per VGCC.

Importantly, the cellular membrane is 7 million times more sensitive to EMFs than the charged particles inside and outside of the cells, which are what safety standards are based on. In other words, the safety standards are off by a factor of 7 million!

There is not scientific evidence that the HPV vaccine has not been proven to prevent cervical cancer. In addition, it has the worst adverse side effects of any vaccine including paralysis and death. This vaccine must be stopped. Please do not vaccinate your daughters (and sons). You may be changing their life forever and not for the good. HPV vaccine has an injury rate of approximately 2500 out of 100,000 or 25 out of 1,000 or 2.5 out of 100. That is high. The risk of getting cervical cancer is only 7.5 in 100,000. Getting the vaccine is not worth the risk for a vaccine that prevents certain (not all) strains of cervical cancer and has a high risk of adverse reactions. Some doctors believe the HPV vaccine should be pulled from the market. 

Autism rates are estimated to be 1 in 45 as of 2015. It is likely higher now. The CDC covered up a link between the MMR vaccine and autism. Risk of an adverse event was significantly lower for children who wait to at least age 3 years of age. Also getting the vaccine in parts (measles, mumps, and rubella are given on separate months apart) lowered risk.

Smart technology is not so smart when it comes to health. Smart meters are not the only problem. So are cell phones, especially smart phones. Electromagnetic fields cause many health problems. Some of the short-term problems are insomnia, anxiety, tremors, and brain fog. Some of the longer term health problems are neurological disorders, cancer, and possibly Alzheimer's disease. 

I know smart meters are affecting the bees. I had so many bees in my neighborhood every year before smart meters were rolled out that I was constantly getting rid of nests under the roof of my house and I couldn't go near my pine trees. Within one year of the implementation of smart meters, about 90 percent of the bees have disappeared. Another change is the decrease in pigeons. They also used to be a problem around my bird feeders. Pigeons are notorious for using the earth's magnetic field to guide them. EMFs interfere with the earth's magnetic field. Pigeons are no longer a problem.

Smart meters, smart cell phones and a Dect cordless phones disturb cellular function. Dect cordless phones are on and transmitting 24 hours a day. I opted-out of a smart meter for a monthly fee. I own a 3G flip phone instead of a smart phone and I switched out my Dect cordless phone for a corded phone at home. Unfortunately, corded phones are very difficult to find with an answering machine. If you can't get rid of your smart phone, keep it away from your body when turned on. Some people never shut off their phone. Try to limit the hours you use your phone every day and put it in airplane mode when not in use. We need to get away from feeling you must be connected 24/7. Do not sleep with it next to your body unless it is shut off. Some people also keep their WiFi on all night. Shutting it off will not only reduce your EMF exposure but also the chance your computer will be hacked. Criminals love people who keep their computers and WiFi on 24/7.

Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is characterized by following symptoms: distraction, fidgeting, forgetfulness, impulsiveness, and procrastination. The most common treatments for treating ADHD are the prescription drugs Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall, and Dexedrine. All of these drugs are stimulants and very addicting. The common side-effects from these drugs include constipation, headaches, irritability, sleep problems, stomach pain, and weight loss. These drugs can affect growth in children. In addition, drugs may stop the symptoms but they do solve the problem or eliminate the underlying issue.

Some health professionals question whether ADHD is a real condition or concocted by the pharmaceutical industry to make money. As a trained naturopath, I believe in treating symptoms regardless of what someone named it. So, if have been diagnosed with ADHD or you have not been diagnosed with ADHD but have some or all of the following symptoms---easily distracted, forgetful, impulsive, hyperactive, and/or feel your brain is never calm enough to concentrate---then the following recommendations for treating these symptoms naturally will help you.
  • Eliminate stimulating foods such as artificial sweeteners and additives (dyes), preservatives, and caffeine. Reduce sugar intake to a maximum of 20 grams (5 teaspoons) per day.  
  • Eliminate all soft drinks. They contain caffeine and either high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) or aspartame. These ingredients are highly stimulating. In addition HFCS has been found to cause weight gain and destroy the gut resulting in poorer digestion of nutrients. Aspartame is an excitotoxin that destroys brain neurons and triggers or worsens neurological conditions such as  ADHD, seizures, dementia, MS, essential tremor, and Parkinson's. Drink water as a primary source of hydration. Add 100% fruit juice in a ratio of 1 to 3 (fruit juice to water) if plain water is not palatable. Herbal teas (chamomile, hops, and valerian) that calm are also great beverages. Drink these in the evening before bed for better sleep. 
  • Eliminate high-gluten foods such as modern wheat (aka frankenwheat) and food products that contain frankenwheat such as breads, cereals (such as puffed wheat and cream of wheat), and wheat pastas. Try cooking with low-gluten flours such as spelt wheat, oat, rice, and quinoa. 
  • Healthy fats, especially omega-3 fatty acids have been shown in studies to calm the brains of those with ADHD. Instead, eat healthier fats such as virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and organic butter. In addition, eat wild-caught salmon which contains omega-3 fatty acids a couple of times per week or supplement with omega-3 fatty acids (1,000 mg of purified fish oil or 2,000 mg of flaxseed oil).  Flaxseed oil has been shown to absorb more poorly than fish oil so twice as much is needed. Avoid trans fats found in processed foods.

A survey of 2438 dementia-free elderly participants underwent neuropsychological testing as part of the NEDICES study. The study adjusted for age and education. The study found that patients with Parkinson's and essential tremor had poorer cognition than controls. This is why it is very important to do everything possible to improve brain health. That means exercising (to stimulate neuron growth), eating brain-healthy foods that include healthy fats and several servings of fruits and vegetables, avoiding environmental toxins, reducing stress, and getting a good night's sleep. Due to a strain of the bird flu, 73,500 birds had to be euthanized on a Tyson Foods farm in Tennessee. According to reports, no infected birds entered the food supply. Gee, I wonder how they know that for sure. This is just another of the many reasons not to eat factory-farmed animals. Eat less meat and when you do, eat organic.

The Osmonds---a group from my childhood and a song with lyrics that seem to be the story of my life. "First I'm up, then I'm down....just like a yo-yo!" Makes me smile, which lowers cortisol (stress) levels, and makes me want to go get a glass of milk. Except these days, it's soy or almond milk. For those of you who are too young to know, the Osmonds are Mormons. Mormons don't drink alcohol, coffee, or tea. Therefore, it was assumed by many that they only drank milk.  Not true. Pretty sure they drank fruit juice. 😇😀

Humana plans to drop Obamacare by the end of 2017. It seems they are losing (relative term because they are probably just making a few billion less) money insuring sick people. You mean it doesn't pay to insure sick people who need thousands of dollars of care every month? Who would have thought? Hopefully Trump has the answer to this mess. Maybe the very sick should have been added to Medicare. But Medicare is bankrupt so....

There are already five states with only one option. After Humana drops out of the unAffordable Care Act, how many more states will be added to the one option plan?

 The answer to the insurance mess is to get rid of health insurance except for catastrophic events (accidents and serious illnesses). Without insurance, there would be much more competition and prices on all health care services would drop significantly. We need to go back to cash payments and transparencies. If you need to go to the doctor and you had to pay cash, you would check everyone to get the lowest price. If you could pay in a year what you pay in a month for catastrophic insurance, you would have the money to go to the doctor for checkups and lab tests, especially if the price decreases 75 percent.  Wouldn't it be nice to pay $50 cash to the doctor for a visit and not have to deal with insurance companies? How about paying $100 for complete blood tests? This will never happen, though, because the insurance industry pays lobbyists millions of dollars a year to "insure" they continue ripping off the public.

The autism rate is now 1 in 5O. It will be 1 in 2 by 2030 if we do nothing. The pharmaceutical industry performs the studies to prove vaccine safety or they award grants to universities that perform the studies. Conflict of interest anyone? The pharmaceutical industry is made up of public companies that make billions of dollars off of sales of vaccines. Profits are top priority to make shareholders happy, otherwise, the shareholders will invest elsewhere. The pharmaceutical industry lobbied together to get a law passed in 2011 that exempts them from liability related to vaccine damages. So, if you are your child becomes autistic, brain damaged, or dies, they don't have to pay out a dime. If vaccines are so safe, why the law? Yet, millions of dollars are paid out every year to families of children harmed by vaccines. Who is footing the bill? You, the taxpayer. How come we never hear about these lawsuits? The pharmaceutical industry controls the media by threatening to pull their lucrative ads. They spend billions on television advertising every year. Who wants to lose that kind of money?

Toenail fungus causes a thickening and yellowing of the toenail that can be painful. Conventional treatments typically involve antifungal drugs, laser treatments, and sometimes surgery. More natural and less toxic alternatives include the following:
  • Reduce the thickness of your affected nail using a debridement tool (a nail file works). This allows topical remedies to enter into the nail more easily. Topical remedies that are helpful include tea tree oil, Thieves oil (an aromatherapy oil), Neem oil, or Vicks VapoRub. Whatever you choose, apply it once or twice (preferably) a day. 
  • Try to wear sandals as much as possible with no socks. Socks and shoes create a hot, moist environment preferred by fungi.
  • Expose your feet to sunlight as much as possible. The UV rays are naturally "anti-fungal." It may take three to six months of daily sun exposure to work. 
  • Regularly submerge your feet in saltwater. If you live near the ocean, take walks near the edge of the water. If not, you can do foot baths with natural sea salt.
  • Avoid or reduce sugar consumption as much as possible. Sugar is what fungi thrive on to survive.

The following video narrated by Mike Adams (Natural News) is worth watching, especially if your water is fluoridated and your water company has convinced you it is harmless and helps prevent cavities. 


To understand that fluoride is one of the most toxic poisons on the planet, you need to understand how fluoridation of water came about in the first place. Sodium fluoride is a by-product of the aluminum and fertilizer industries---a toxic waste called silicofluoride that contains arsenic, cadmium, lead, and other toxins. Instead of paying to dispose of this toxic waste, the aluminum and fertilizer industries came up with a plan---sell it for use in public water supplies to prevent tooth decay. So what did they do? They had studies performed to show improvements in dental health as a result of fluoridated water. Yes, that's right. Two chemical companies decided you should have chemicals in your drinking water. There have been no independent studies to prove otherwise. Although there were many opponents, including many doctors (and still are) who believed fluoride in water will cause cancer, dementia, bone weakness, gastrointestinal problems, thyroid, dysfunction, and a host of other health problems, about 66 percent of the drinking water in the United States is fluoridated as of 2014. 

Another tidbit you might want to know about water fluoridation. Hitler added it to the water supplies in Jewish neighborhoods to pacify them. Why? Because Hitler knew that fluoride would dull the brain, lower IQ, and make them followers.   

So what can you do? If you have fluoridated water (call your water company), filter the water you drink. In my opinion, you should filter your water anyway. You cannot trust any company to your health. They care more about their profits. Just look what happened to the people in Flint, Michigan. 

Make sure you buy a water system that filters out fluoride---not all do. The better water systems will start at around $200. However, their filters usually last much longer than cheaper systems. Holistic Doctor Death Series 60 Dead

All the above people are dead. All of the above people were holistic doctors. Some of the deaths were "alleged suicides," some were alleged "accidental" deaths; some died naturally, and some were murdered. Most of the murders are unsolved. Many of these doctors were researching natural cures for cancer and other diseases, writing books, and treating patients with alternative methods. How can so many holistic practitioners die in one year?

This list was compiled in early 2016. Since then, at least 23 more holistic doctors have died. More murders, "alleged suicides," and "accidental" deaths.  Very suspicious. Who or what organizations want these people out of the way? Who has the most to lose if someone finds a cure for cancer or diabetes? Included in this list are the following well-known practitioners and details of their death from Erin Elizabeth's website. She is a journalist and holistic activist who has been tracking the death of holistic doctors.

DR. BRADSTREET: Dr. Bradstreet formerly of Florida, and now practicing in Georgia, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest in a river. The small town locals ruled the death almost immediately as a suicide, but many have their doubts. This same day in Mexico, June 19th, 2015, three doctors were traveling to the State Capital to deliver some papers and were reported missing. This is the only case outside of the U.S. Authorities said they found the bodies, but the families say those bodies look nothing like their family members and they are demanding more proof and more testing. A sad but riveting article was written about those details, here. I also did an exclusive interview with the Bradstreet family as they publicly said I was the only journalist they trusted to talk about the horrific incident.

DR. NICHOLAS GONZALEZ: Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, a holistic MD, dies suddenly. The same day another holistic doctor is also found dead. They both allegedly died of heart attacks, though their own friends and family say publicly it doesn’t add up. I had met Dr Gonzalez and his amazing wife, and my better half has interviewed him several times. His official website says that while they initially thought it was a heart attack, his autopsy does not support that belief and shows no heart attack. They are awaiting further tests. “Dr Gonzalez was in excellent health otherwise so his passing is quite unexpected.”  There were rumors he was working with GcMAF, but his wife has clarified that he was not (some of the other doctors rumored to have used GcMAF also state their relative had never used it) The church at Dr Gonzalez’ funeral in New York was jam packed though. Packed with his patients who he’d put into remission (some with stage IV pancreatic cancer) who are still in remission decades later.  People every week (including close friends) write me questioning the fact that he died “naturally”. He also said in several interviews (including the last one before he died) that he thought big pharma wanted him to get hit by a bus or that he might die suddenly.  Frightening metaphors and a mystery we hope to get to the bottom of soon.

According to a study by the American Heart Association, a high-protein diet, especially protein from meat is linked to risk of heart failure in women over 50. Protein from vegetables did not have the same effect. This is another good reason to cut down on animal protein and increase vegetable protein.
How do you do this? Studies have shown that people who cut down slowly are more successful than people who go cold "turkey." Poultry is healthier than red meat (beef), so start with substituting red meat with organic poultry and then substituting organic poultry with legumes. Instead of eating a beef and cheese burrito, have a chicken and cheese burrito. Instead of eating a chicken and cheese burrito, have a bean and brown rice burrito. A more heart-healthy burrito is one with beans, brown rice, and avocado (instead of cheese). Substitute beef burgers with turkey burgers and then substitute turkey burgers with veggie burgers. Substitute chicken or ground meat with lentils in soups. Add a little reduced-sodium, organic-chicken or vegetable bullion for the flavor. Better Than Bouillon was rated the best by America's Test Kitchen. Stay away from non-organic brands. They are likely to have MSG, genetically-modified organisms, and other additives
